Fair share volunteer policy
Running the Snowboard Club requires a tremendous amount of volunteer work in applying for grants, paying coaches and general administration of the club. In addition, the Snowboard Club requires extensive volunteering for races not only from the ROC (Race Organizing Committees) of the club, but from numerous volunteers who assist in race set-up and who carry out various tasks on the race days themselves.
In light of this, the Sunshine Snowboard Club has adopted a formal volunteer tracking system requiring commitment to a specific number of races, or hours of volunteer duties, from each parent of an athlete. Those parents or adult athletes who do not wish to volunteer will be asked to submit additional fees as a “non-volunteer.” When registering, you can opt for a ‘non-volunteer’ fee or a “volunteer fee”. If you choose a volunteer fee, you will be contacted throughout the season to volunteer at various races and fund raisers.
